Nikkei BP has announced that it is making the 'Introduction through Chapter 1' of its book, 'Technological Republic: The Future of State, Military Power, and Technology' (authored by Alexander C. Karp and Nicholas W. Zamiska, translated by Akiko Murai), published in March 2026, available for free.

The book, a bestseller in the New York Times and the Sunday Times, has also achieved great success in Japan, ranking in bookstores nationwide and reaching its 7th printing. In response to this high demand, Nikkei BP has decided to offer a portion of the content for free. Registration as a member of 'Nikkei BOOK Plus' (free of charge) is required for access.

Co-authored by Alexander C. Karp, co-founder of Palantir Technologies, and his right-hand man Nicholas W. Zamiska, the book argues that the Western tech industry, represented by Silicon Valley, should move away from short-sighted consumer-oriented innovation and rebuild its relationship with government to become more deeply involved in national projects.

The authors point out that since the end of World War II, governments have lost their ambition for scientific and technological development, delegating these efforts to the private sector. As a result, the focus of the tech industry shifted entirely to consumer products, widening the innovation gap between the West and its adversaries. With the use of AI and drones in defense becoming an unavoidable reality, the authors emphasize that tech professionals must respond to this reality and use their talents to strengthen democratic freedom.

The book has received widespread praise from figures such as Jamie Dimon (Chairman and CEO of JP Morgan Chase), Eric Schmidt (former Chairman of Google), and historian Niall Ferguson, who have hailed it as a 'must-read for the AI era' and a 'riveting manifesto for a new Manhattan Project.'

Author Profiles: Alexander C. Karp: Co-founder and CEO of Palantir Technologies. Holds a JD from Stanford Law School and a Ph.D. from Goethe University Frankfurt. Nicholas W. Zamiska: Head of Corporate Affairs and Legal at Palantir Technologies. Graduate of Yale Law School.
