New Series Launches: 'Read, Know, and Taste' the Charm of Hokkaido Wine

Western Cuisine NiNi (Kita-ku, Sapporo) is launching a new collaborative project with J.S.A. Wine Expert and Wine Life Coordinator Saori Abe to promote the appeal of Hokkaido's 'Japan Wine' from multiple perspectives. As the first phase, the serial column 'Hokkaido Wine Journey: Saori Abe x Western Cuisine NiNi' will begin on the official website on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. In this series, we will visit wineries across Hokkaido to introduce the producers' thoughts, the unique characteristics of the land, and the reality of winemaking. Through pairings with dishes at Western Cuisine NiNi, we will share new ways to enjoy Hokkaido's 'Japan Wine,' which is beginning to shape the local community. Background: In recent years, Hokkaido wine has gained high acclaim both domestically and internationally. Western Cuisine NiNi has been promoting this charm by offering a selection centered on Hokkaido wines paired with their cuisine. Saori Abe has long been involved in promoting Hokkaido wine through event planning, lectures, and winery tours. This project aims to deliver the charm of Hokkaido wine through the three experiences of 'Reading, Knowing, and Tasting.' The series will run from March to December 2026 (10 installments planned), with new content released on the 26th of each month. We also plan to hold 'Maker's Dinners' in July and December 2026, where guests can meet the winemakers themselves.
