The "Kyokoku Himatsuri" (Gorge Fire Festival) is a summer event packed with highlights, including a sacred ritual incorporating Ainu culture, powerful performances, and fireworks echoing through the gorge.

On July 25 (Sat) only, enjoy a variety of events that will color Sounkyo's summer, including a performance by the Self-Defense Forces band, dynamic Himatsuri taiko drumming, and fireworks.

From July 26 (Sun) to August 15 (Sat), fireworks will be held daily. Not only will the beautiful fireworks color the night sky, but the powerful sound, which reverberates off the canyon walls and echoes repeatedly, is also a major attraction.
