The Japan Management Association (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Takahisa Takahara) opened the "Local Government Comprehensive Fair 2026," Japan's largest comprehensive exhibition for public-private partnerships, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight's West Exhibition Hall (West Halls 3 & 4). The event will run for three days until Friday, July 10. On the opening day, numerous local government officials and company representatives from across the country visited, filling the venue with energy from the moment it opened in the morning.
This fair serves as a platform for national and local governments and companies to meet, learn through seminars, conduct business negotiations at exhibition booths, and network, with the aim of solving regional issues and creating new businesses. In the previous year (2025), 8,648 people visited over three days, with 354 organizations from 46 prefectures participating. This year, too, the fair has been bustling with many visitors from the first day, and seminars and special project areas will continue to be held daily from tomorrow onwards.
Day 1 Highlights (1) | Consecutive Noteworthy Sessions
On the first day, a variety of noteworthy sessions were held with speakers ranging from national policy officials to key figures active on the front lines of the private sector.
◆ Latest Policies on Industrial Location by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
In the session "Regarding Amendments to the Industrial Competitiveness Enhancement Act, etc. (Current Status of Domestic Industrial Land and Key Points of Legal Amendments)," Ms. Miyuki Nagayama, Assistant Director of the Regional Industrial Infrastructure Development Division, Economic and Industrial Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, gave a presentation. She explained the current status of domestic industrial land and the key points of the legal amendments, and attendees interested in domestic industrial location and regional industrial base development listened intently.
◆ Considering Regions and Business in the Generative AI Era (Takayuki Fukatsu and others)
Mr. Takayuki Fukatsu, Representative of THE GUILD Inc., Mr. Masashi Kunugi, Representative of miibo Inc., and Mr. Masahiro Watanabe, COO and Director of StoryHub Inc., took the stage. Lively discussions were held from a practical perspective on how generative AI will change the nature of regions and administration, and the venue was filled to capacity.
Many attendees listened intently to the seminars.
Day 1 Highlights (2) | Public-Private Partnership Project Areas Fostering Experience and Encounters
At the venue, experiential project areas were set up to promote encounters and business negotiations between local governments and companies, leading to numerous business card exchanges and negotiations from the first day.
● Public-Private MEET Tokyo in Local Government Comprehensive Fair
This is a problem-posing area where local governments present regional challenges and are matched with companies that have solutions. Active, concrete dialogues between local government officials and companies took place from the first day.
● Regional Co-creation Area
This area features local governments and companies exhibiting jointly to showcase the results and initiatives of co-creation projects. Attendees showed keen interest in real-life examples of collaboration.
● Regional Future Strategy Corner
This corner, supported by the Secretariat of the Regional Future Strategy Headquarters of the Cabinet Office, introduces national and local government strategies and cooperative projects looking towards the future of regions. Visitors stopped by to learn about the latest policy trends.
The project areas were bustling with many visitors, and business negotiations and exchanges between local governments and companies were taking place in various locations.

The fair will also be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 9, and the day after tomorrow, Friday, July 10, from 10:00 to 17:00. Noteworthy sessions with different content each day and introductions to content in the project areas are planned.
