NPO Human Resource Development Organization (Chairman: Masao Mizutani, Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), which operates the e-learning service "Supporters College (Sapokare)" (https://live-learning.jp/) for support staff working in welfare facilities for people with disabilities, has produced new training content.

Overview

The July content for "Supporters College (Sapokare)", an e-learning service for support staff working in welfare facilities for people with disabilities, is "About Physical Restraint" (https://live-learning.jp/post-kougi/01260700/).

Previously, "Physical Restraint" was delivered as the 4th part of "About the Prevention of Abuse of People with Disabilities." With this renewal, the content has been expanded and included as new material. This lecture systematically covers everything from the basic concepts of physical restraint to assessment perspectives, preventive support, and seating practices. It considers how to create an environment and provide support where users can live with peace of mind while protecting their dignity. The content is easy to understand even for those learning about it for the first time, so please watch it.

Comments from the Production Staff

Through this lecture, I was reminded that physical restraint is an act that greatly affects the freedom and dignity of users and is accompanied by many disadvantages. While there are challenges in the field of support, such as safety and staffing, I felt it is important to occasionally reflect on whether daily practices have become routine and to re-examine the user's situation and the background of their behavior.

Furthermore, I believe that supporting the comfort, stability, and activities of users and realizing a life that suits them leads to the well-being of the users and also to the well-being of all supporting staff. I hope many people will watch this as an opportunity to reflect on their daily support.

[Overview of Supporters College]

"Supporters College (Sapokare)" is an online training service (e-learning) for all staff at facilities supporting people with disabilities, from new employees to facility directors and management. Centered around 15-minute "Web Lectures" delivered weekly and "Live Seminars" where staff from various corporations and facilities learn from each other through internet conferencing systems, it aims to foster systematic human resource development in facilities supporting people with disabilities and to improve the "job satisfaction" and "support capabilities" of people working in such facilities nationwide.

How to Use

Web lectures delivered weekly can be accessed unlimited times by any number of people for an annual subscription fee of 165,000 yen (including tax). Unlike general e-learning, there is no per-person fee. Anyone within the same facility can access the lectures, regardless of the number of people. Therefore, all staff members, regardless of employment status such as full-time or part-time, can view the lectures on their computers, tablets, or smartphones.

Additionally, up to 5 facilities can be used without additional charge, allowing corporations of any size, regardless of their financial scale or number of employees, to provide educational opportunities to their staff.

* From the 6th facility onwards, an additional annual fee of 11,000 yen (including tax) per facility will apply.

* An initial registration fee of 11,000 yen (including tax) is required at the time of contract.
