Nippon Steel Trading Corporation (hereinafter 'the Company') will exhibit at the '11th Japan Drone 2026,' to be held at Makuhari Messe from Wednesday, June 3, to Friday, June 5, 2026. At the booth, the Company will display non-destructive inspection drones from Canada's Skygauge Robotics (hereinafter 'Skygauge'), for which the Company holds an exclusive distribution agreement in Japan, as well as the latest models currently under development.
Skygauge's non-destructive inspection drones feature a unique contact technology that allows the aircraft to stably press against an object. This enables ultrasonic thickness measurement while in flight for steel structures, tanks, piping, bridges, and plant equipment. By minimizing the need for scaffolding or rope-access work in high or difficult-to-reach areas, this technology contributes to reducing inspection workloads, shortening equipment downtime, and improving safety.
As Japan faces social challenges such as aging infrastructure and a shortage of skilled inspectors, expectations for drone-based non-destructive inspection technology are increasing year by year. Leveraging its expertise in the steel and industrial equipment sectors and its global network, the Company is promoting the provision of optimal solutions to customers in Japan.
At the exhibition booth, the Company plans to introduce the latest inspection drone technologies, as well as various payloads such as brushes and painting equipment, through live demonstrations and inspection footage. We look forward to welcoming those considering the advancement of their facility maintenance operations.
