Shiga Prefecture, NTT West Corporation, and REXEV Inc. Launch "EV Car Sharing Demonstration Project Utilizing Official Vehicles"

Shiga Prefecture (Governor: Taizo Mikazuki), NTT West Corporation Shiga Branch (Branch Manager: Kiyokazu Fujioka), and REXEV Inc. (President and CEO: Ken Watanabe) will launch the "EV Car Sharing Demonstration Project Utilizing Official Vehicles" (hereinafter referred to as "this demonstration project"), where prefectural employees, residents, and tourists will share electric vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "EVs"), starting July 7, 2026 (Tue).

This is a service that allows residents and tourists to use official vehicles, which are not in use on holidays, etc., as car sharing.

1. Background and Objectives

In Shiga Prefecture, under the "Shiga Prefecture CO2 Net Zero Society Creation Promotion Plan" and the "Prefectural Government Leading Action Plan Towards CO2 Net Zero (CO2 Net Zero Office Shiga)", we are promoting the spread of next-generation vehicles, including EVs, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from automobiles.

This demonstration project, following the feasibility study conducted by Shiga Prefecture in Reiwa 7 (2025), will be undertaken as a long-term demonstration project over three years. We will implement a sharing service where the procured EVs are used by prefectural employees for official duties on weekdays, and by residents and tourists for everyday purposes such as shopping and sightseeing on holidays. By allowing residents and tourists to try using EVs, we aim to promote the spread of EVs, diversify transportation options, and effectively utilize official vehicles.

Official Use

Used by Shiga Prefectural employees as official vehicles

General Use

Used by residents and tourists through the car sharing service app "N.mobi *" (220 yen per 15 minutes)

Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays (0:00 - 24:00)

* "N.mobi" is an EV car sharing service operated by NTT West Corporation. To use the service, you will need to download the app and register an account from the dedicated website below.

(5) EV Car Share Debut Support Campaign Information

To encourage the casual use of EV car sharing, we will be running a limited-time campaign.

The campaign details are as follows:

- A coupon that can be used later will be presented to those who register as new members by July 31.

- Furthermore! An additional coupon will be presented to those who use the service for the first time (2 hours or more) in July.

There is no membership fee. Please take this opportunity to experience EVs at a great value.
