NTT SmartConnect Launches 'Cloud Lift' Menu for SmartConnect Cloud Platform (Type-S)

NTT SmartConnect Corporation (Headquarters: Osaka, Osaka Prefecture; President: Kento Miyaoku) has launched the 'Cloud Lift' menu for its cloud service, SmartConnect Cloud Platform (Type-S) (hereinafter SCP Type-S).

'Cloud Lift' is a menu that provides an environment for customers to migrate their systems from on-premises environments to SCP Type-S. Previously, customers had to build their own migration environments. By using this menu, customers can now migrate their systems to SCP Type-S without requiring advanced expertise or complex procedures.

1. Background and Purpose

Recently, corporate IT infrastructure has been rapidly shifting to the cloud to reduce operational loads, implement BCP measures, and ensure scalability. There is a growing demand for migration solutions that do not require advanced expertise or complex procedures.

To meet this demand, we have launched the 'Cloud Lift' menu, which provides a migration environment (VMware HCX) from the customer's on-premises environment to SCP Type-S.

By using this service, customers can perform migrations to cloud infrastructure more easily and with peace of mind.

- About SCP Type-S This is a domestic private cloud service that provides virtualization infrastructure on a host-dedicated model for customers who wish to utilize IT infrastructure in the cloud.

- About VMware HCX This is a Broadcom product that allows virtual machines to be migrated between VMware-based infrastructures from on-premises environments to the cloud.

2. Overview and Features

The 'Cloud Lift' menu provides an HCX environment for migrating virtual machines operated in the customer's on-premises environment to the SCP Type-S environment. HCX is a product that enables the migration of virtual machines between VMware-based infrastructures.

Previously, we asked customers to build and execute cloud migration environments themselves using OVF/OVA files or third-party tools. However, by using this menu, customers can utilize the cloud migration environment prepared by the service, enabling virtual machine migration without the need for advanced expertise or complex procedures. Furthermore, since customers can select the optimal migration method according to the virtual machines they use, it is possible to carry out the migration of the entire system efficiently and safely (zero-downtime migration is also possible).
