Oh my teeth, provider of the clear aligner brand "Oh my teeth," conducted the "2026 Survey on the Correlation Between Dental Alignment, Income, and Career" ahead of "Teeth and Mouth Health Week" in June 2026, targeting 2,587 men and women aged 20-59. While 66.8% of respondents feel that dental alignment affects first impressions, only 16.3% have actually undergone orthodontic treatment. The survey revealed a 1.07 million yen difference in average annual income between those satisfied and dissatisfied with their teeth, a 7.5-point gap in career satisfaction between those with and without orthodontic experience, and a seven-fold difference in dental floss usage. It should be noted that these results indicate a correlation between groups and do not imply that dental alignment or orthodontics directly cause changes in income or career. According to Yano Research Institute, the domestic orthodontic market is expected to reach 600 billion yen in 2024. Oh my teeth's survey found that approximately one in six Japanese people have undergone orthodontic treatment, rising to one in 2.5 when including those considering it. This highlights a significant gap between those who recognize the importance of dental alignment and those who take action. Expert Nobuaki Honda points out that orthodontic treatment helps establish self-care habits, rooting the consciousness of protecting one's teeth into daily life.
