◆ Overview
Okayama University (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City; President: Tomohiro Nasu) was selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's 'Research University Strengthening Promotion Project (J-PEAKS)' (implemented by JSPS) on December 22, 2023. This is a large-scale support project providing approximately 5.5 billion yen over five years.
To realize its Long-Term Vision 2050, Okayama University is advancing research strengthening and innovation strategies. The 24th issue of the 'Okayama University J-PEAKS MONTHLY DIGEST,' which reports on these activities, has been published. This issue highlights 'Forestry DX,' aimed at passing on Okayama's abundant hinoki resources to the next generation. It also includes information on university-wide organizational and institutional reforms, intended to share know-how among participating universities.
○ Comment from Toshikatsu Kishi, Chief Coordinator (Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration), Okayama University: 'Safety management and resource assessment in forestry are significant challenges. Our initiative aims to realize Forestry DX through LPWA communication networks, wearable devices, and drone-based forest visualization. We aim to balance the sustainable use of forest resources with the safety and health of those working in the region.'
