Hotel Nikko Tsukuba (located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture; General Manager: Satoshi Furusawa) will fully renovate the main banquet hall, 'Subaru,' on the first floor of its annex in September 2026. Renovations will commence in July. The project will feature a design inspired by Tsukuba as a research and science city, alongside the introduction of the latest equipment, transforming it into a versatile venue.
Since the annex opened in 1990, 'Subaru,' the hotel's largest banquet hall, has hosted numerous international conferences, ceremonies, and wedding receptions. To meet diversifying needs, the venue will undergo a complete refurbishment. This includes interior redesigns and the installation of high-brightness projectors and advanced audiovisual and lighting equipment to create a more comfortable and functional space.
The design theme, 'A Place Shining Under the Vast Starry Sky,' draws inspiration from Tsukuba's identity as a hub for science and space exploration. It incorporates motifs of stars and galaxies, as well as Mount Tsukuba and the zelkova tree, the official tree of Tsukuba, to create a space that exudes intelligence, calmness, and sophistication suitable for MICE, ceremonies, and weddings.
