Omron Develops New AI Feature "With.Ai" for Community Comprehensive Support Centers

Omron Corporation (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; President and CEO: Shunta Tsujinaga) announced that its Data Solutions Business Division has developed "With.Ai," a dedicated AI function for care management, as a major update to "Harecle With," its care prevention care management support system for community comprehensive support centers. This new feature is scheduled to be integrated during fiscal year 2026.

"With.Ai" is an AI function designed to assist in creating personalized care plans for each elderly individual at community comprehensive support centers. In prototype verification, it demonstrated a reduction in care plan creation time to as little as 10 minutes, achieving over an 80% reduction in work hours*1. With the integration of "With.Ai," "Harecle With" will evolve into a platform that simultaneously enhances the operational efficiency of busy community comprehensive support centers and improves the quality of care plans that contribute to self-reliance.

Social Issues to Address

As of the end of March 2024, there were 7.08 million individuals requiring long-term care or support*2. Projections indicate a shortage of approximately 570,000 care workers by fiscal year 2040*3, and care benefit payments are estimated to reach around 24 trillion yen (approximately double the current amount)*4. Amidst this situation, it is an urgent priority for municipalities to simultaneously increase both the "quality" and "quantity" of care prevention care management. Meanwhile, community comprehensive support centers are facing excessive workloads for their staff*5, leaving insufficient time to transition to and implement "care plan design that contributes to self-reliance." The dilemma of not having enough time to improve quality, and not being able to maintain quality when increasing quantity, is becoming more acute ahead of the expansion of care providers mandated by the revision of the Long-Term Care Insurance Act, scheduled to take effect in April 2027. Omron views resolving this on-site dilemma as a critical issue directly linked to contributing to "extending healthy life expectancy" and is therefore developing "With.Ai."

Overview of "With.Ai"

"With.Ai" is a new AI function to be integrated into "Harecle With," the care prevention care management support system for community comprehensive support centers. It aims to achieve both a reduction in workload and an improvement in the quality of care prevention care management that supports self-reliance.

Supporting this dual objective is a proprietary algorithm designed as HCL (Harecle Core Logic). HCL comprises the ability to analyze the causal relationships of each elderly person's physical and mental functions and living conditions, and the ability to formalize the know-how and thought processes of experienced professionals in assessment and goal setting.

The core of its design philosophy is: "An AI that collaborates in considering each elderly person, rather than an all-automatic AI." Instead of the AI making judgments based on statistics or general theories, it is dedicated to complementing and strengthening the judgments of on-site staff and the elderly individuals themselves. The aim is to create an environment where, even in understaffed settings, individuals can practice care prevention care management that contributes to self-reliance at a level close to that of experienced professionals, gaining "insights" and "learning" regardless of their years of experience.

This function allows for a comprehensive and rapid grasp of an elderly person's physical and mental functions and living challenges, essential for handling many individuals within limited time at the center. By capturing the overall picture as a preliminary step to detailed assessment, it enables efficient identification of the support direction for each individual.

2) Assessment Advisor Function <Patent Pending>

This advisory function identifies necessary support and actions for an individual by analyzing their physical condition, intentions, living background, and daily routines. Based on the input, it provides hints for necessary assessments and support policies, forming the foundation for high-quality care plans that contribute to self-reliance.

3) Stepwise Care Plan Generation Function <Patent Pending>

This function allows for the gradual assembly of a care plan in line with self-reliance and care prevention perspectives, incorporating the opinions and intentions of the elderly person. As the AI accompanies the individual with a focus on their needs, it enables the creation of high-quality, individualized care plans. Furthermore, the AI automatically generates professional and appropriate text for each step, allowing care plan documentation to be completed in as little as 10 minutes.
