Shinyurigaoka OPA Upcycles Customers' 'Beloved Cosmetics' into Interior Decor, Applying Them as Building Materials

OPA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiba City, Chiba; President: Daisuke Ono; hereinafter: our company), which operates the commercial facility 'Shinyurigaoka OPA' (hereinafter: this facility), has, through a three-party collaboration with Moongata Inc. (hereinafter: Moongata) and Fukubi Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter: Fukubi Chemical Industry), upcycled waste cosmetics collected from customers within the facility into building materials and returned them as interior decoration. This initiative addresses the 'waste cosmetics' issue faced by the cosmetics industry and users, with our facility acting as a hub to merge the technologies of each company. It is an attempt to visualize the process of resource circulation as 'interior decoration' and to cherish and pass on the 'feelings' of our customers as part of the facility. ■ Implementation Details: 'Resource Circulation' that Blends into Daily Life Building materials that breathe new life into waste cosmetics have been adopted as part of the interior decoration on the 2nd floor.

[Main Installation] 2F Restroom Sinks (Powder Room) The vibrant colors and the sparkle of glitter and pearl inherent in cosmetics are beautifully reproduced, brightening the entire space and creating an elegant atmosphere. It expresses a new form of sustainability unique to Shinyurigaoka OPA, where one's reflection in the mirror confronts the past colors embedded in the walls. 2. [Story Exhibition] 2F Restroom Entrance Rest Area Mini-tiles of the building materials used in the washstands of the 2F men's and women's restrooms are displayed in a frame made of 'ribbed-shaped cosmetic building material' that shimmers with glitter and pearl depending on the angle of light. It also serves as a 'color sample' where one can see the colors that adorn each other's spaces, which are normally inaccessible. It represents beauty as a symbol of the facility where diverse individualities coexist. ■ A 'Tangible' Process Created with Customers At the 'Cosmetics Scraping Workshop' held in September 2025 with Moongata, customers experienced scraping out and separating cosmetics from their containers themselves. The cosmetic contents collected through this manual work were turned into colorants by Moongata and fused with Fukubi Chemical Industry's technology, giving birth to a building material with a one-of-a-kind texture.
