The online community 'Bijutsu Henshuubu.' (operated by Oshiro Inc.) will host a talk event titled 'Thinking About Art and Comedy with Mitsuru Kuramoto' on Sunday, August 2, 2026, featuring broadcast writer Mitsuru Kuramoto and art journalist Yoshio Suzuki. This marks the first time these two contemporaries, who have each discovered and promoted 'new talent' in the distinct fields of comedy and art, will engage in a public dialogue.

◼ Background of the Event

Mitsuru Kuramoto, known for his work as a broadcast writer, and Yoshio Suzuki, former deputy editor-in-chief at Magazine House, have both made significant contributions in different media landscapes. Bringing them together for the first time, 'Bijutsu Henshuubu.' facilitates this inaugural dialogue.

Kuramoto has long been at the forefront of Kansai's unique comedy culture, identifying comedic talent early and supporting their rise to national fame. He has also played a key role in establishing comedy not as fleeting entertainment but as a respected 'art form'.

Suzuki, likewise, is an art journalist who has consistently spotlighted emerging artists before they gained widespread recognition. Guided by the principle of 'believing in and promoting what I personally find valuable,' he reshaped the editorial style of Magazine House publications through his discerning eye.

While the methods of introducing talent to the public differ greatly between television and magazines, both individuals share a remarkable similarity: the ability to recognize 'what no one else has noticed yet.' Could the way of perceiving art and the way of appreciating comedy actually share a similar structure? This event was conceived from that very question.
