Standard linerless thermal labels allow for direct thermal printing and are silicone-coated for easy peeling. However, this coating makes them difficult to write or print on. Conversely, non-silicone-coated labels allow writing/printing but lack peelability. Addressing this, the company developed a proprietary overcoat layer that balances the opposing characteristics of easy release and writability/printability.

Following the release properties, a re-peelable adhesive is applied in a striped pattern. This reduces adhesive consumption by 50% compared to solid application, and the pattern ensures even adhesion regardless of where the roll is cut. It adheres well to kraft bags, thin paper wrappers, and uneven surfaces, and can be removed and repositioned without tearing.

[Development Background] QSRs prioritize fast service and diverse customizations. Orders are printed via direct thermal labels, but the company identified that allowing kitchen staff to handwrite checks on the same ticket could further enhance speed and accuracy.

Operations are improved by skipping the peeling process, and storage space is optimized. Environmentally, it results in zero waste and reduces CO2 emissions during transport due to weight reduction.
