1,562 Children's Artworks on Display! "Yokohama City Children's Art Exhibition 2026" (7/17-26) Packed with Free Events

In anticipation of the "Yokohama City Children's Art Exhibition 2026," the Yokohama Civic Art Gallery solicited paintings from children aged 0 to 12 residing or attending school in Yokohama City. Artwork reception was held from July 2 (Thu) to July 4 (Sat), and this year, a total of 1,562 pieces were collected. The "Yokohama City Children's Art Exhibition 2026," which will display all these submitted works, will be held from July 17 (Fri) to July 26 (Sun). The children's free and vibrant works will fill the venue from the 1st to the 3rd floor.

This exhibition has been cherished by multiple generations and celebrated its 60th anniversary last year. This year, we celebrate a new beginning under the theme "Nice to Meet You." During the exhibition period, workshops that parents and children can participate in together, and a "Children's Collection Exhibition" selected from our holdings, can be enjoyed for free.

1. Children's Collection Exhibition "Nice to Meet You"

A small exhibition featuring selected works from the Yokohama Civic Art Gallery's collection of approximately 1,300 pieces, centered around the theme "Nice to Meet You." It offers exposure to various forms of expression such as oil paintings, Japanese paintings, photography, ceramics, and poetry, making it perfect for children experiencing an "exhibition" for the first time.

It is an opportunity to feel and think about many things in front of the artworks, from the excitement of encountering new things and people, the thrill of trying something for the first time, to the philosophy of "What is a beginning?"

* A viewing session for children and adults will be held on July 20 (Mon, holiday) from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM (no application required, free participation).

2. Freely Participatory Workshop "Transform! Let's Make Masks"

Let's make masks of various creatures using colored paper. After completing the masks, put them on and say "Nice to Meet You" to your new self!

3. "Nice to Meet You" Mission Card

Let's explore the exhibition using cards with missions. If you clear them all, you'll become an "Exhibition Master"!

4. Hama Kids Art Club Artwork Exhibition

Participants from "Drawing Pictures with Color Tape" (held on June 21) will exhibit works where 18 pairs skillfully used tape on large fabric to express flowers, the sea, vehicles, space, and more.
