Pal-system Yamanashi Nagano Consumers' Cooperative (Headquarters: Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Chairperson: Shigezuko Furuya) will hold a biodiversity survey in a rice field in Goshoda, Takane Town, Hokuto City, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Sunday, June 28. Participants will observe diverse creatures in a rice field cultivated through environmentally friendly methods that do not rely on pesticides, and experience the importance of protecting the environment.

"Ethical" Rice Cultivation for Future Generations

The survey will be held in the rice field of Mr. Inada, a member of the Hokuto City producer group "Otentosan-gumi." They practice ethical agriculture that is gentle to the environment and people, without using chemically synthesized pesticides or fertilizers.

In paddy fields cultivated with environmentally friendly methods, all living things coexist, from invisible microorganisms to insects and amphibians. Approximately 30 types of creatures were confirmed in last year's survey.
