June 'Environment Month' Kick-off: Cleanup Activity Around Higashi-Shinjuku Headquarters

Pal System Cooperative Union (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Okubo, Chairperson: Atsuyuki Shibusawa) held a cleanup activity around its Higashi-Shinjuku headquarters on Friday, June 5, 2026, as part of its Environment Month campaign. Nine officers and employees participated, collecting a total of 0.75 kg of trash. This initiative contributed to the beautification of the local community and raised awareness of environmental issues.

Environmental Activities Called for by the Entire Group

The cleanup activity was conducted on the roads surrounding the head office building. Despite being a short 20-minute activity, 0.2 kg of combustible waste, 0.2 kg of non-combustible waste, and 0.35 kg of bottles and cans were collected, totaling 0.75 kg. Many cigarette butts and plastic bags were found, making us realize firsthand that individual efforts can reduce waste.

Discarded trash not only spoils the local landscape but also accumulates as marine debris when it flows into rivers and oceans. Plastic waste, frequently found during cleanup activities, can become microplastics and have a significant impact on marine ecosystems if not collected. Reducing single-use plastic consumption, along with proper waste sorting and recycling, emphasizes the importance of accumulating small actions.

Pal System continuously carries out local cleanup activities, collecting a total of 218 kg of trash across the group in fiscal year 2025. This year, under the slogan "Thanks Earth! ~Actions We Can Take for the Earth Now~," the company will implement measures to encourage individuals to consider environmental issues as their own and take action.

Promoting Environmental Conservation to Protect the Earth's Future

In 2023, the Pal System Group formulated its Environmental and Energy Policy, aiming to realize a "decarbonized society," a "circular economy society," and a "society in harmony with nature." In April 2025, the "Pal System Nature Positive Declaration" was announced to prevent global warming and conserve biodiversity. The company will practice activities that cherish the environment to ensure that the blessings of nature can be received in the future.
