Palsystem Tokyo Consumer Cooperative (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Chairperson: Yoko Nishimura) will host 'Peace Fes 2026' on Saturday, July 4, from 12:00 to 16:00 at its headquarters meeting room, inviting participants to reflect on peace. Seven international cooperation NGOs supported through member donations via the 'Peace Fund' campaign will attend to share the current realities of their regions. The keynote speech, also streamed online, will feature Sahel Rose, an Iranian-born performer, discussing the plight of children affected by conflict.

Supporting Aid Programs Through Global Goods Sales

Seven international NGOs active in regions including the Middle East, Asia, and Ukraine will gather at the venue. Each organization will bring handicrafts and local products from the regions they support to host a 'World Bazaar,' with proceeds funding humanitarian programs.

Participants are invited to volunteer in sorting used postage stamps and misprinted postcards collected for aid. While working alongside NGO staff and fellow attendees, participants can learn about the conditions in supported regions.

Reflecting on the Fragility of Peace Through the 'Now' of Homelands

At 14:00, Sahel Rose, who became a war orphan in Iran and came to Japan with her adoptive mother as a child, will deliver the keynote speech. She will engage in a cross-talk with Nikita Tropchin, a Ukrainian student who moved to Ibaraki Prefecture after the Russian invasion and serves as the 'Ibaraki International Student Peace Ambassador,' sharing the current situation of people suffering from ongoing conflicts worldwide.

Both speakers will respond to audience questions, encouraging participants to reflect on how everyday peace in Japan is not a given, and to consider what each individual can do to support those affected.

Over 13 Million Yen Raised in FY2025 for Peace Initiatives

Since 1996, Palsystem Tokyo has run the 'Peace Fund' campaign, raising financial support from members for NGOs aiding children affected by poverty, hunger, and conflict worldwide. In FY2025, a total of 13,634,251 yen was collected and allocated to seven NGOs supporting children in crisis.

The funded organizations operate in regions including the Middle East, Asia, and Ukraine, assisting children who have lost access to safe living conditions, education, and healthcare due to war and conflict.

Recipients include Peace Winds Japan (Fukuoka City, Chairman Yuichi Hara), which continues Dr. Akira Nakamura’s irrigation projects in Afghanistan, and SHARE (Tokyo, Chairman Yasuho Nakasa), an NPO dedicated to improving infant nutrition in Cambodia—both long-standing groups deeply embedded in local communities.
