Nakafurano Town in Hokkaido (Mayor: Kiyoshi Komatsuda) and Times24 Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichi Nishikawa, hereinafter "Times24") will operate the "Nakafurano Town-Managed Parking Lot" by introducing the mobile parking management service "Times Parking Caravan" from June 13 to August 23, 2026.
Nakafurano Town attracts many tourists from all over Japan every year from June to August, which is the lavender blooming season. The "Nakafurano Town-Managed Parking Lot," located in an area with scattered tourist spots such as the Hokusei Mountain Lavender Garden, is usually open for free. However, to ensure safety around the roads and maintain the environment, it will be operated as a paid parking lot for a limited period from June 13 to August 23, 2026.
For this paid operation of the "Nakafurano Town-Managed Parking Lot," the mobile parking management service "Times Parking Caravan" will be introduced.
"Times Parking Caravan" is a mobile parking management service that enables short-term, temporary parking operations for events or other situations with temporary parking demand by transporting and installing equipment such as cashless payment machines and vehicle number recognition cameras on the parking lot site.
The camera-based, cashless pre-payment system will facilitate smooth entry and exit for users while minimizing the personnel required for operation. Furthermore, data such as entry/exit trends, duration of stay, and origin regions collected through vehicle number recognition will be aggregated and utilized for tourism promotion.
Nakafurano Town and Times24 aim to build a sustainable tourism region by realizing smooth parking operations.
