Saitama Prefecture will start accepting applications for the 'Saitama Prefecture Rice Price Surge Countermeasure Subsidy' on Friday, May 29, 2026. This emergency measure aims to alleviate the burden on SMEs facing soaring prices for processing rice and sake-brewing rice. It provides support equivalent to the price increase of 2025-crop processing rice to businesses manufacturing products such as alcoholic beverages (sake), seasonings (miso), and confectionery (rice crackers). Eligible businesses must be SMEs with headquarters or main offices in the prefecture that use brown or polished rice as a primary ingredient. Catering, bento, and deli businesses are excluded. Applications are primarily via an online form, with submission windows divided based on delivery and payment completion dates. Please refer to the Saitama Prefecture website for details.
