Hitachi Seaside Park will once again host its highly popular summer event, 'Kabutomushi House,' for a limited period. This year’s edition features an upgraded lineup, including rare beetles and stag beetles such as the beloved 'Hercules beetle' that children adore—species not typically seen in daily life. Visitors can enjoy enhanced exhibition zones and interactive events where they can touch and engage with beetles and stag beetles up close. Additionally, the 'Wakuwaku! Summer Vacation Craft Plaza' will run on weekends and holidays during the event period, making it an ideal destination for creating lasting summer memories.

Exhibitions and interactive events have been upgraded!

The 'Rare Beetles Observation Corner' now features six species, up from four last year. Alongside the world-famous Hercules beetle, visitors can see the Caucasus beetle, Giraffe Rhinoceros Beetle, and Talandus Shiny Stag Beetle.

In addition to the returning 'Become a Beetle Expert' program, a new event titled 'Amazing Beetles & Stag Beetles!' will debut this year, offering close encounters with rare international species.

All visitors to Kabutomushi House will receive a beetle card (limited quantity, random design).

Get up close with beetles! – Kabutomushi House –

Inside a large tent-style 'insect enclosure,' numerous lively beetles await! Guests can hold them and observe their movements up close. The sight of so many beetles right before your eyes is sure to become a cherished memory.

Observe rare beetles from around the world up close! – Exhibition Corner –

Alongside popular species like the Hercules beetle and Giraffe Rhinoceros Beetle, six rare international species—including the Grant’s Giant Rhinoceros Beetle and Talandus Shiny Stag Beetle—will be on display. Visitors can compare their colors, shapes, and sizes up close and experience their unique characteristics and differences.

A reading corner stocked with insect-themed picture books and field guides will be available inside the venue. Visitors can relax in the cool indoor space and dive deep into the fascinating world of insects.

Become a Beetle Expert

Returning from last year, beetle expert Mr. Kojima (aka 'Jima-san') will explain how to safely handle beetles.

Learn about beetle anatomy and proper handling techniques while observing live beetles.

An insect quiz contest will also be held at the end of the event!

Amazing Beetles & Stag Beetles!

New this year!

In addition to the beetles on display, rare foreign species selected by 'Pekomushi,' the local insect expert, will also be featured.

Join Pekomushi, a beetle specialist, to interact with exotic beetles and stag beetles from around the world!

Participants in 'Become a Beetle Expert' and 'Amazing Beetles & Stag Beetles!' will receive a special limited-edition sticker (random design, one per person), so be sure to join!
