What is a Moon Viewing Platform?
A moon viewing platform is a space traditionally created in Japan to appreciate the moon as part of the ancient moon-viewing culture. Often located with views of gardens and ponds, it has been cherished as a uniquely Japanese cultural practice for spending quiet time while gazing at the moon in harmony with nature. Sanyoso had a moon viewing platform when its new building first opened, but it was lost over time. In May 2026, the moon viewing platform was restored based on the original design and philosophy from its founding. This space has been recreated to evoke the atmosphere of the past, allowing guests to once again enjoy serene moments woven by the moon and the garden.
*Reservations will close once the capacity is reached.
*Please note that the moon may not be visible depending on weather conditions.
