Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort Launches 'Calpri Snow Land,' a Summer Snow Play Experience Using Artificial Snow Technology

Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort (Karuizawa, Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture; General Manager: Yuko Kageyama) will begin operations on July 11, 2026 (Saturday) for 'Calpri Snow Land,' a summer snow play experience area utilizing artificial snow technology.

Since launching Hikariyama Ski Resort in the 1960s as Japan’s first artificial snow ski resort, Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort has refined its snowmaking techniques over decades. 'Calpri Snow Land' will leverage the snowmaking technology and machines developed through winter slope operations to offer a special experience where guests can touch snow even in the middle of summer.

'Calpri Snow Land' is a limited-time indoor area inside the Snow House, where approximately 100㎡ of artificial snow is spread to a depth of about 20cm. Regardless of outdoor temperature or weather, visitors can enjoy snow play anytime. Amid ongoing nationwide heatwaves, the resort will offer this as a new summer leisure attraction, combining Karuizawa’s naturally cool environment at an elevation of about 1,000 meters with a refreshingly cold snow-filled space enjoyable for both children and adults.

Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort aims to create opportunities for memorable summer experiences through this unique, out-of-the-ordinary encounter with snow.

1. Utilizing one of the resort’s eight snowmaking machines, capable of producing approximately 50 tons of snow per day

2. Daily monitoring of temperature, snow volume, and snow quality to maintain optimal snow conditions

Operating Details for the Summer Snow Play Experience Area 'Calpri Snow Land'

Leveraging the unique snowmaking machines and technology of an artificial snow ski resort, an indoor snow play zone will open within the ski center during summer, allowing snow activities even during extreme heat.

Period: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from July 11, 2026 (Saturday) to August 30, 2026 (Sunday), and from September 5 (Saturday) to September 27 (Sunday)

*Open on September 24 (Thursday) and 25 (Friday)

Hours: 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. (Last admission at 3:00 P.M.)
