Eikei University (President: Mutsuhiro Arinobu, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City) will hold a student backpacking talk event on Monday, June 8, and Friday, June 12, 2026, at the university. The presenting student traveled alone across 18 European countries for approximately three months, from June 26 to September 21, 2025, as part of a graduation project. The theme of the trip was "A Project to Turn a Longing for Overseas into Reality." The aim is to create a travel guide for students based on real experiences, targeting those who hesitate to travel abroad due to concerns about cost, safety, and language. During the trip, the student experienced various troubles, including having about 100,000 yen stolen in Turkey and facing a flight cancellation in Switzerland that left them without accommodation. On the other hand, by continuing the journey with help from people met along the way, the student learned the importance of "relying on others" and "creating your own fun." On the day, the student will talk about travel costs, packing, route planning, choosing accommodation, handling local troubles, and communicating in English, based on personal experience. This event is for students, but media representatives are welcome to cover it as a case study of student overseas challenges and graduation projects.
