QQ English Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yorimitsu Fujioka; hereinafter QQEnglish) will hold an "English x ZUMBA" event, where participants can move their bodies while using English, in Shinjuku, Tokyo, on Saturday, May 23, 2026. This event will be held in two parts, for kids and adults, offering English experiences tailored to each life stage.

In recent years, while opportunities for English learning have expanded, the challenge of "knowing but not being able to speak" has been pointed out. Against this background, QQEnglish aims to create opportunities for people to familiarize themselves with English through experiences with friendly Filipino teachers and naturally connect it to speaking, not as a study but as an experience.

Why "English x ZUMBA"?

In the Philippines, ZUMBA is enjoyed by people of all ages and genders, and events are held everywhere in shopping malls on weekends, establishing it as "a place for casual communication for everyone." This event leverages that cultural background, creating an environment where participants can naturally engage with English by imitating movements, even without using difficult English.

By engaging with English while moving their bodies, resistance to the language is lowered, and natural output is encouraged.

Because QQEnglish has routinely provided an environment for daily English conversation with Filipino teachers, it is able to realize a "natural English-speaking experience" even in real-life settings.

Changes observed from past events

This event has shown behavioral changes in participants by providing an environment to "use" English rather than "learn" it.

Scenes from past parent-child ZUMBA events Scenes from past adult real-life events

<Voices of participants from past parent-child ZUMBA events>

"My child, who is usually hesitant to speak English, said they wanted to talk to the teacher and was able to introduce themselves in English."

"At first, they were shy, but they enjoyed participating until the end."

"They remembered the teacher and were looking forward to seeing them again."

<Voices of participants from past adult real-life events>

"Having opportunities to speak English like this motivates me."

"Usually, it's one-on-one with a teacher, so it was nice to meet fellow students who are also working hard, whom I hadn't met before."

There were also comments that children who were initially passive became more actively engaged in using English as they attended more sessions, indicating the effectiveness of output opportunities through experience. From these voices, it is evident that the psychological barrier to English is lowered by "experiencing" rather than "studying" it, leading to natural output.
