Recochoku Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toru Itabashi; hereinafter referred to as "Recochoku") has been entrusted with the development and provision of a dedicated voting system for "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026", the largest-scale domestic international music award organized by the General Incorporated Association Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (hereinafter referred to as "CEIPA"), for the second consecutive year following 2025, serving as a project partner. This year, Recochoku's involvement extended beyond system provision to supporting the entire selection and management process through partial revisions of the process aimed at improving the convenience for voting members and collaboration with data-linked companies.
About the Voting System for "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026"
"MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN" is an international music award operated by the General Incorporated Association Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA), which is run in collaboration with six major music industry organizations (The Recording Industry Association of Japan, The Association of Music Producers of Japan, The Japan Association of Music Enterprises, The Music Publishers Association of Japan, The Japan Association of Concert Promoters, and The Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers) under the concept of "Connecting with the World, Illuminating the Future of Music." The second edition, "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026," will hold its awards ceremony on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO.
Eligible works for "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026" are those (songs/albums) for which the full version of the official sound source was digitally distributed or physically released on public services for the first time between January 1, 2025 (Wednesday) and December 31, 2025 (Wednesday) (excluding some categories). Data from Oricon, Billboard JAPAN, GfK/NIQ Japan, Luminate, and others were utilized for the entry works for each award.
Subsequently, the "MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN" dedicated voting system was used for the selection process, with voting conducted online.
First, nominated works were selected by domestic voting members in the primary voting conducted in March. Following the announcement of nominations in April, the award-winning works and artists were determined through strict voting by 5,000 domestic and international music industry professionals, targeting these nominations in the final voting.
