RIMOWA has unveiled its new advertising campaign, 'For a Lifetime of Lives.' This campaign expresses the permanent relationship between the diverse, reliable items that accompany people through travel and creation across time, and the people who use them. Presented as a cinematic story that unfolds over generations, the campaign depicts how a single RIMOWA case travels through the various chapters of a person's life.
Directed by the Argentine video production trio Pantera and featuring an original score by the highly acclaimed trumpeter, composer, and producer Theo Croker, the campaign unfolds like a short film, centering on a trumpet and the RIMOWA aluminum case that protects it.
Following the passage of time and the trajectory of inheritance, the narrative depicts how the instrument and its case are passed down from father to son. Amidst shifting moments, spaces, and sounds, RIMOWA remains a durable companion that stays by the characters' sides throughout their lives.
Episode 1, 'Window Seat,' portrays a quiet moment of inheritance. As the son prepares to leave home, his father, a trumpeter, hands him the instrument housed in a RIMOWA case. The film interweaves fragments of the father's past with the son's first steps into his own life.
Episode 2, 'Starting From,' depicts the life of the son, now a musician himself, as he moves between rehearsal rooms and the road, searching for his true voice. Wavering between discipline and freedom, this episode reflects the formative years of his artistic journey and showcases the dents and scars that mark the RIMOWA case throughout his life.
The final episode, 'Once More,' follows the protagonist on his day leading up to a performance. It captures the quiet moments before standing on stage, fragments of music that shape the days dedicated to sound, and the brief time that comes after a performance.
These films, taken together, depict the two narratives inherent in every RIMOWA case while expressing an inherited legacy. One is the functional excellence born of engineering and durability. The other is the emotional journey that accompanies the owner throughout life. Dents, stickers, and the traces of travel become part of the case's personality, quietly accompanying the owner's life.
This campaign also features still imagery shot by renowned artist Tyler Mitchell. The still-image campaign introduces a wider range of characters through scenes of travel. Each image captures the quiet bond between the reliable cases and their owners.
At the center of the campaign is RIMOWA's popular 'Classic' collection. Finished in the brand's iconic aluminum material with a groove design, these suitcases are widely known as iconic items that embody craftsmanship and durability. A number of 'Classic' cases, manufactured in the historical Cologne factory, appear throughout the campaign, reaffirming RIMOWA's unwavering commitment to creating cases that can be used for a lifetime.
'For a Lifetime of Lives' reflects the philosophy embedded in RIMOWA's 'lifetime guarantee.' It is the idea that the most meaningful journeys in life are those shaped over time, guided by the human instinct to push life forward.
This new advertising campaign has begun rolling out worldwide, including in Japan.
