ROMS Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yosuke Maeno), a provider of automation solutions for logistics warehouses and factories, announces that it will hold a joint webinar with HapiLogi Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Norifumi Mori) titled "Solving Shipping Cost Increases and Siloed Operations through Visualization of Packing Operations ~Shipping Optimization for Everyone Achieved by Data Integration x AI~" and has opened registration.
Mr. Kobayashi, Representative Director of LF&L Inc., who has supported improvements in numerous logistics sites, will be invited as a guest speaker. He will discuss real-world challenges at the site and the theme of "Will AI truly take root in logistics sites?" from an objective consultant's perspective, incorporating expert insights in a dialogue format.
Background: How to Implement AI for On-Site Execution Support
Currently, both BtoC and BtoB logistics sites face severe labor shortages and rising freight costs, which are pressuring business profits. In particular, the packing process before shipment has characteristics that tend to depend on the experience of veteran workers (siloed operations), such as selecting the appropriate box size and arranging items considering product protection.
As a result, there are cases where hidden costs escalate, such as a decline in packing quality due to the placement of temporary workers to compensate for labor shortages (leading to complaints from crushed boxes or poor appearance), and the generation of unnecessary material and shipping costs due to over-packing (selecting boxes that are too large) caused by indecision.
This webinar is set with the theme "How to Implement AI for On-Site Execution Support" to address these issues. We will explain the cloud-based packing support tool "Packing Assist AI," which enables staff with no prior experience to pack with the same speed and quality as experienced workers, and the data integration platform that supports it, incorporating a consultant's perspective.
Overview
This program systematically covers everything from the latest trends in AI utilization in logistics sites to specific system implementation and know-how for on-site adoption. We will invite logistics consultant Mr. Kobayashi as a guest to unravel the usefulness of AI approaches in logistics operations, particularly in packing. As a practical example, we will introduce the integrated solution of data integration by HapiLogi's "logiec" and standardization of operations and visualization through reporting functions using ROMS' "Packing Assist AI."
Furthermore, in a talk session, we will explore real hints for successful on-site implementation from a consultant's objective perspective on the barriers to system introduction, such as cost-effectiveness and resistance from veteran staff.

Recommended for:
- Those struggling with variations in packing quality and complaint handling. - Those who want to eliminate over-packing and optimize freight and material costs. - Those who want to standardize operations that rely on the experience of veteran workers, such as packing multiple items or into specified containers. - Those who have introduced systems like OMS/WMS but still have analog "human judgment" remaining in the final shipping and packing process. - Those who want to know how to deal with resistance from on-site staff to new systems.
