'Giant Robo' is the first tokusatsu giant robot hero series in Japan, based on the original work by Mitsuteru Yokoyama. Its commercialization was decided through passionate voting by tokusatsu fans in Toei Video's new project 'Let's Decide Together! Toei Tokusatsu Blu-ray Project!' held last year. This broadcast commemorates the release of the 4K negative-scan HD remastered version of 'Giant Robo Blu-ray BOX', scheduled for Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The episode to be broadcast is the first episode, 'Giant Sea Beast Dakora', a gem in tokusatsu history. 【Synopsis】

A tokusatsu super robot action series based on the original work by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, broadcast from October 1967 to April 1968! Toei's masterpiece 'Giant Robo' is the first tokusatsu giant robot hero work not only in Japan but also in the world.

This work, a precursor to the super robot anime boom of the 70s, is the origin of Toei's giant robot tokusatsu depicted in series like Super Sentai and Metal Heroes. It was exported overseas, gained popularity, and influenced various movies and comics. That masterpiece is finally appearing as a Blu-ray BOX in its first 4K negative-scan HD remaster! It is revived with vivid colors and high image quality never seen before!!

【Story】

Emperor Guillotine, an invader from space, formed the secret society 'BF Group'. They secretly built the steel giant 'Giant Robo'. However, through the efforts of the boy Daisaku Kusama, who hated evil, Giant Robo was reborn as a giant of justice and became a super robot protecting humanity along with the Unicorn Agency.

The invincible Giant Robo, capable in air, land, and sea, challenges various powerful enemies under the command of young Master Kusama, including the giant sea beast Dakora, the giant ball Glover, the space plant Satan Rose, and even GR2 (Giant Robo No. 2).
