THE COSMOPOLITAN GRILL BAR TERRACE, a grill restaurant operated by Salt Consortium Co., Ltd. on the 9th floor of the South Tower at Grand Front Osaka, is launching a new initiative titled 'Around the World Afternoon Tea,' themed around global culinary cultures.
Each season, the series will spotlight one country, expressing its food culture and stories through afternoon tea. Guests will enjoy a journey-like experience through curated sweets, savories, and pairing drinks.
The first edition introduces the 'Afternoon Tea Inspired by Turkey,' inspired by the confectionery traditions of the Ottoman Empire.
Japan and Turkey have maintained friendly relations for over 130 years. In recent years, interest in Turkish traditional cuisine and desserts has grown in Japan, increasing opportunities to experience its charm locally.
In Turkey, sharing tea with family and friends is deeply rooted in daily life, cherished as a culture that nurtures human connections. Inspired by this tea-time tradition and spirit of hospitality, this afternoon tea experience has been thoughtfully curated.
Additionally, Turkey's rich dessert culture—exemplified by baklava—and its skillful use of spices in diverse dishes are among its unique culinary attractions.
The centerpiece of the afternoon tea is the iconic 'baklava' from 'Nadir Gullu,' a historic Istanbul-based brand founded in 1843, renowned for preserving the legacy of Ottoman palace confections. Also featured are authentic treats like 'Dubai Choco,' known for its crunchy texture and rich pistachio flavor, crafted by 'divan,' a prestigious Turkish brand established in 1956.
The menu also includes original desserts infused with Turkish ingredients and aromas, as well as savory items inspired by local cuisine, such as the 'Chicken Kebab Tortilla Roll.' Through a blend of tradition and modern creativity, guests can immerse themselves in Turkey’s rich tea-time culture.
◼️ Authentic Turkish Sweets Paired with Creative Interpretations
Featuring traditional delicacies such as 'baklava,' made with over 40 layers of phyllo dough and pistachios, and 'Kadayıf,' a crisp, baked dessert. Also included are the crunchy 'Mini Dubai Choco' and 'Ardwares' chocolates, offering vibrant and diverse flavors.
Additionally, original creations include a cardamom-infused scone—reflecting Turkey’s reputation as a 'spice paradise'—fig and apricot butter cake, and rose-scented panna cotta, all incorporating Turkish ingredients and fragrances. Each dessert blends tradition with modern flair, capturing the essence of Turkish culinary artistry.
Savories Inspired by Turkish Street Food
The savory selection includes the 'Chicken Kebab Tortilla Roll,' inspired by Turkey’s popular wrap sandwich, 'döner.' Chicken marinated in yogurt and spices is grilled to perfection, delivering rich flavor and aromatic depth.
Also featured is the 'Creamy Corn Soup with Popcorn,' a reinterpretation of a traditional Black Sea region corn soup. The soup’s gentle sweetness and the popcorn’s crisp texture offer a delightful contrast, enjoyable between sweet courses.
Drinks That Capture the Turkish Tea-Time Experience
Drinks include traditional 'Turkish tea,' served with sugar cubes for personalized sweetness, as well as aromatic flavored teas like 'Peach & Ginger' and 'Strawberry Kiwi.' Additionally, guests can enjoy original cocktails and mocktails inspired by Turkish tea culture and local ingredients.
Signature drinks include 'OTTOMAN AFTER DUSK,' blending rich Turkish tea with rose water; 'FIG ROYAL,' a sparkling cocktail featuring Turkey’s famed figs; and 'CITRUS SHERBET,' a mocktail inspired by 'sherbet,' a traditional Turkish drink made by boiling fruits, flowers, and herbs with sugar or honey. These beverages highlight Turkish aromas and ingredients such as rose, fig, citrus, and herbs.
Alongside classic coffee and juices, a total of 16 drink options are available, perfect for pairing with the sweets and savories.
