Omiya Sweets & Cafe College (located in Omiya Ward, Saitama City) has completed a collaborative product development project with Lotte Co., Ltd., commercializing and selling three original sweets designed by students. The sale took place on campus on May 8, 2026, receiving great acclaim from local customers and selling out in approximately 30 minutes.
In March 2026, six products selected from 16 entries went through a presentation phase at Lotte's Urawa Factory. This project focused on planning and developing new products for local customers by leveraging the characteristics of Lotte's flagship 'Ghana Milk Chocolate.'
On the day of the presentation, students introduced their concepts to Lotte's marketing, food education, and product development departments. Following strict evaluation, three products were chosen for commercialization.
The three commercialized products are:
- Yaki-Choco-Man: Chocolate custard and a piece of Ghana Milk Chocolate wrapped in chocolate dough, topped with miso sauce and walnuts. It features a unique combination of chocolate and miso.
- W Choco-Minton: Available in two types: a rich version with chocolate cream sandwiched in chocolate dough, and a sweet-and-sour version with berry confiture.
- Saku-Mochi Ghana Cookie Shoo: A five-layer structure consisting of a cookie choux, ganache, gyuhi (rice cake), chocolate cream, and Ghana Milk Chocolate, offering a variety of textures and flavors.
Through this project, students gained practical experience in the entire process from development to sales, deepening their understanding of planning, presentation, and sales strategy.
