Santec LIS Receives Excellence Award at the 18th Laser Society of Japan Industry Awards

The Laser Society of Japan Industry Award is presented to outstanding products and technologies that contribute to the development of the domestic laser-related industry through their development, commercialization, and widespread adoption. Among these, the Excellence Award is given to laser-related industrial technologies that have achieved particularly high evaluation for their technical excellence and market track record.

Reasons for the Award

The external cavity tunable laser (TSL series) has achieved high performance and reliability through continuous improvements since it was first commercialized in 1988 as the world's first external cavity tunable laser using a semiconductor laser. Furthermore, it was highly evaluated for its significant contribution to the development of the domestic and international laser-related industries through long-term commercialization and dissemination. This product achieves a combination of broadband and mode-hop-free wavelength tuning characteristics, high-speed sweeping, high output, narrow linewidth, and high stability, achieving a world-class market share and sales record primarily in the field of optical communications. This high level of technical maturity and remarkable contribution to the industrial world led to the presentation of the Laser Society of Japan Industry Award for Excellence.
