Confirmation of Seismic Performance of Next-Generation Ceiling Systems in Full-Scale Experiment
In this experiment, full-scale test specimens simulating office and residential spaces were constructed, and the safety and functional integrity of non-structural components (ceilings, walls, floors, etc.), indoor equipment, furniture, and fixtures during an earthquake were verified.
Sanyo Kogyo was responsible for the design and construction of the ceiling, wall, and floor sections in this test specimen. Particularly for the ceiling section, Sanyo Kogyo applied a newly developed ceiling construction method (scheduled for release in fiscal year 2026) to the experiment.

Future Developments
Sanyo Kogyo has historically focused on research and development of interior and non-structural components that support the safety and comfort of architectural spaces.
Leveraging the knowledge gained from this full-scale shaking table experiment at E-Defense, Sanyo Kogyo will contribute to disaster prevention and mitigation and the enhancement of social infrastructure resilience through:
- Expansion of highly seismic-resistant product lines, including the newly developed ceiling construction method. - Strengthening proposals to government agencies, public facilities, medical facilities, and disaster prevention bases. - Realization of "architectural spaces that can continue to be used" even after major earthquakes.
About Sanyo Kogyo's Earthquake Countermeasure Ceilings
To meet the needs of society and customers, Sanyo Kogyo has developed and launched various types of earthquake countermeasure ceilings, which have been adopted in many projects. By thoroughly verifying product functions during development and ensuring quality, the company has contributed to the realization of a safe and comfortable society.
With a variety of ceiling fall prevention methods, such as lightweight ceilings and semi-structuralized ceilings, Sanyo Kogyo provides selection flowcharts, comparison tables (features, prices, etc.), and delivery records to help choose the appropriate seismic method according to the ceiling conditions.
