Malawian drip coffee bags will be sold with a QR code to participate in Impact Lessons where you can talk with people from Malawi!

The Japanese "NPO SEIBO (Specified Non-Profit Corporation Seibo)" (Representative: Masato Yamada, Kita-ku, Tokyo), which supports school lunches for children in Malawi, and Malawi's social enterprise "Beehive Centre of Social Enterprise," which connects education to employment, have launched a system to introduce Malawian coffee and online lessons simultaneously through a partnership.

Beyond a Cup of Coffee!

Warm Hearts Coffee Club is a donation-based coffee brand that has fostered collaboration with over 100 regular customers, corporations, and educational institutions in Japan.

Until now, while coffee allowed people to experience Malawian products, opportunities to truly experience the country itself were limited.

In this context, through collaboration with Beehive Digital, a partner organization that promotes employment in IT and digital fields locally, coffee and local interaction have become a reality!

A session between high school students and Malawian staff (cultural exchange in English, incorporating the local Chewa language)

Masato Yamada, representative of NPO SEIBO, speaks about the synergistic effect of lunch support and job creation:

"Malawi is a country where more than half of the population is under 18 years old.

For such a country, providing basic nutrition and education through school lunches for infants and elementary school students, and then creating stable employment in advanced digital environments for their future careers, is a very important undertaking."

Social Value of the Lessons

Eighty percent of the local population is engaged in agriculture, and most people lack the economic means or educational background to pursue other jobs.

Despite this, population growth rates are increasing in Sub-Saharan African countries (including Malawi), and we believe that engaging with these individuals can present valuable perspectives to Japanese companies.

Furthermore, we hope that educational institutions can learn about fair trade coffee, gain knowledge about Africa, and also experience actual communication with local people.

And of course, we hope that our regular coffee drinkers will also have the opportunity to participate!
