While working as a salaried employee for a musical instrument manufacturer, he was stationed in Melbourne, Australia, in his 30s and was captivated by the rich local lifestyle and unique plant culture. Upon returning to Japan, he began gardening as a hobby at his home in Kanagawa Prefecture and has cultivated over 120 species of Australian plants for approximately 35 years. His experience and information dissemination gained a reputation, and after retiring from his company, he began working as a professional gardener. He has won numerous gardening contests. He served as a horticultural consultant at the Kawasaki City Greening Center for 8 years, conducting workshops on container gardening, succulents, and rose cultivation.
