Sekiguchi Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo / President: Toshitaka Yoshino) will release new products of its original character 'Monchhichi' at retail stores, e-commerce sites, and character specialty stores nationwide from Friday, June 19, 2026.

The Japanese-style Monchhichi, popular among inbound tourists and at sightseeing spots, returns even cuter. Featuring original colored boas inspired by cherry blossoms and matcha, and bibs accented with their respective kanji characters, the design retains its Japanese charm while becoming more adorable. Hair ornaments themed around cherry blossoms and matcha further enhance the cuteness.

The products are available in two sizes: the standard S size and the popular keychain size. These items are perfect for outings in yukata or kimono, and as travel souvenirs, brimming with Japanese appeal.

'Monchhichi' was first released by Sekiguchi in 1974.

It is a character originating from a stuffed toy, known for its cute pacifier pose and freckles.

The body is a plush toy, while the face and limbs are made of soft vinyl, considered a completely new type of doll at the time, causing a massive boom upon its initial release. Exports began the following year, making Monchhichi popular worldwide, and it has continued to be loved by many fans, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024.
