Sensyn Robotics, a leader in social infrastructure DX, and Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) are jointly developing and testing autonomous flight drone technology tailored for railway environments, aiming to enhance the safety and efficiency of railway facility maintenance.

To address the diverse and complex conditions unique to railways, the initiative has developed flight control technology that combines multiple autonomous flight modes, enabling a single drone to fly continuously along tracks.

1. Overview of the Initiative Railway tracks consist of diverse sections, including GNSS-accessible areas, tunnels, vegetation-overgrown zones, and level crossings. This initiative developed three autonomous flight modes to adapt to these changing conditions. By automatically switching modes, the drone confirmed its ability to achieve seamless autonomous flight.

2. Significance of the Initiative This technology has the potential to serve as a new tool for verifying site conditions in railway maintenance, such as safety checks during abnormal weather and remote autonomous inspection of railway structures.

3. Future Outlook Moving forward, the companies will continue technical development and operational verification, while exploring institutional, operational, and safety considerations. They aim to build a sustainable management system for railway infrastructure maintenance, potentially through collaboration with relevant operators and companies.
