To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Izu Shaboten Zoo has opened two new areas. The 'Monkey Terrace' features a 6m high, 80 sq m flying cage where visitors can interact with White-faced Sakis and Tufted Capuchins. The newly expanded 650 sq m 'Petting & Riding Pasture' houses long-eared goats, maras, and tortoises. Two large ponies will arrive in May, followed by two dromedaries by summer, marking the zoo's first camel exhibition in 15 years. The flamingo pond was also renovated to include a new African penguin area.
