Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (SHI) was selected by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) for a survey to build a regional circular carbon recycling system in the Sakata and Shonai areas of Yamagata Prefecture. Done in collaboration with Yamagata Prefecture, Sakata City, Maeda Seikan, and Toho Acetylene, with Summit Sakata Power and Yamagata Bank cooperating, the study focuses on creating a decentralized industrial collaboration model. The project aims to evaluate the recovery, supply, economics, and value-addition of green CO2 from biomass power plants. Ultimately, the partners plan to establish a social implementation roadmap for local carbon recycling. SHI will lead the overall technology and business feasibility studies. Yamagata Prefecture and Sakata City will coordinate regional partnerships and public works usage, Maeda Seikan will handle CO2 fixation in concrete, Toho Acetylene will manage liquefied CO2 distribution, and Summit Sakata Power will perform CO2 capture.
