Installation of Small Experimental Model of "Floating Axis Wind Turbine (FAWT)" Completed at Sea

We are pleased to announce that a consortium comprising the Electric Power Development Co., Ltd., TEPCO Holdings, Inc., Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., ""Kawasaki Kisen"" Co., Ltd., Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshio Watanabe; hereinafter referred to as ""the Company""), and Albatross Technology Inc. has completed the installation of a small experimental model of the next-generation, low-cost, domestically produced floating wind turbine, the ""Floating Axis Wind Turbine"" (hereinafter referred to as ""FAWT""), in the demonstration sea area off the coast of Iki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, and has commenced sea-based verification. This demonstration is a development project undertaken jointly with Sumitomo Heavy Industries Marine Engineering Co., Ltd., a group company of the Company.
