The SHIBUYA QWS Innovation Council (Chair: Yukio Nomura) will host the second term of its public-private-academic-cultural co-creation project, 'Linn (SHIBUYA Co-Creation Lab for Living Innovation),' starting Monday, July 6, 2026.

With the main theme of 'Living Innovation,' the 3-month co-creation program will bring together universities, research institutions, municipalities, corporations, creators, and artists to design and practice future lifestyles and housing solutions. Applications are open starting today, with a deadline of Monday, June 29.

Results from Term 1 and Launch of Term 2 In the first term (August–October 2025), 23 participants from corporations, universities, municipalities, and QWS projects participated. Approximately 40 collaboration ideas were generated, leading to the launch of several joint projects. Participant satisfaction was 4.3/5, with a 4.8/5 rating for interest in continuing the program. The second term will enhance implementation support functions to accelerate practical outcomes.

Program Characteristics Linn is not just a training course or ideation event; it is a 3-month co-creation workshop where participants bring their own resources to jointly create ideas and launch seed projects. Generated projects will lead to participation in QWS Challenges, joint research, pilot studies, and academic presentations.

PMO Function of the Linn Secretariat The secretariat features a professional PMO (Project Management Office) function to ensure ideas reach implementation. It provides assistance with negotiating joint research agreements, coordinating pilot studies, and supporting the acquisition of implementation budgets and grants.

Term 2 Theme Owners 1. Technology and Cities: Kota Minamizawa (Professor and Dean, Keio University Graduate School of Media Design) 2. Shibuya City and Urban Development: Yuki Hashimoto (Shibuya City Councilor) 3. Travel and Tourism: Coming soon
