On May 18, Shinchosha's subscription service "Shincho QUE" will launch. As a highlight of the new service's debut, an exclusive interview with poet Machi Tawara will be featured. Ms. Tawara, whose book "Ikiru Kotoba" (Living Words) published last year became a bestseller, says of Tanka poems created by AI, "it would be a waste for us not to create them," amidst a rapidly changing linguistic environment due to generative AI. We asked Ms. Tawara, who will celebrate her 40th debut anniversary since "Salad Anniversary" next year, about AI, SNS, and the "future" of people and words. The theme of Shincho QUE is the "power to question." It aims to deliver beneficial information and culture for readers' lives and work by questioning the "something" that is being lost behind the speed and convenience of modern society.
