'Ikai Tanbouki Kowai Tabi' (published by Futami Shobo), the first paperback of a horror travelogue by Tanishi Matsubara, an 'accident property comedian' affiliated with Shochiku Geino, was released on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

This popular work, which details his journeys to 157 'scary places' from Hokkaido to Okinawa and Taiwan, was originally released in 2019 and now appears as a paperback edition after significant revisions. It is packed with intense episodes, including shrines where cursed nails were discovered, tunnels said to be haunted, abandoned crematoriums pursued by bell sounds, railroad crossings where spirit photographs were taken, and shrines dedicated to legendary creatures that kill upon encounter.

'I started visiting haunted spots in 2016. That was exactly ten years ago.

'Ikai Tanbouki Kowai Tabi' is a record of a two-year journey where I visited over 200 scary places all over the country, seeking further unknown horrors and mysteries after living in accident properties for several years. It is filled not only with psychic phenomena but also with the history of the land, the truth behind rumors, and discoveries gained from fear. It is no exaggeration to say that because I went through this journey, I am still able to continue living in accident properties even now.

For the paperback edition, I added new episodes and made revisions to make it easier to read. Re-reading it now, I get chills thinking about how often I went to so many different places, but because of that, there are many things I learned, and I would like to share that with everyone. Please read it as if you are accompanying me on this scary journey.'
