Showa Nishikawa Co., Ltd. (Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Genichiro Nishikawa) conducted a sleep training program called "Sleep Training" for 500 students belonging to sports clubs at Kyushu Sangyo University Kyushu High School, a prominent sports school in Fukuoka Prefecture. Building on the success of last year's training with the soccer club, this year the program was expanded to include all sports clubs. With "The Relationship Between Sleep and Performance" as the main theme, the training shared the essential role of sleep and specific practical methods to connect daily practice with physical growth and skill retention.
What are the sleep habits for reflecting practice results?
For athletes, "sleep" is not just a period of rest but a crucial preparation period to maximize the next day's performance. In this training, we explained from a scientific perspective that high-quality sleep not only promotes skeletal development and physical strength improvement but also significantly impacts concentration and instantaneous decision-making during games.
500 students enthusiastically participated
At the venue where all sports club members gathered, many students were seen taking notes and listening intently. During the Q&A session after the lecture, specific questions related to actual competitive life, such as adjustment methods on game day and effective ways to take naps, were raised one after another, leading to lively exchanges. It was a meaningful time for students of all grades and sports to seriously confront their own sleep and conditioning.
Raising awareness of the sleep environment through bedding experience
A trial space for Showa Nishikawa's MuAtsu mattress was also set up at the venue. We believe that by actually experiencing the bedding, the students were able to reaffirm the significant role that the sleep environment plays in supporting athlete performance.
Moving forward, our company will continue to support the growth of athletes nationwide, including those at Kyushu Sangyo University Kyushu High School, who are striving towards their goals, from the perspective of their sleep environment.
