SignalTalk Inc. (Representative Director: Takafumi Kaya; Location: Ota-ku, Tokyo) began accepting general entries for 'Mahjong Senryu 2026' on Monday, June 1st. Senryu is a fixed-form poem consisting of 17 syllables in a 5-7-5 pattern. 'Mahjong Senryu 2026' invites diverse works that weave together events related to Mahjong, daily life, and society. Last year, out of 4,492 entries, the work 'Daishangen, Rice, Salary, Allowance' (by Marin, a woman in her 30s) was selected for the grand prize. Mahjong Senryu has been held annually since 2009 to commemorate 'Tile Day' (Pai no Hi), and a total of 66,047 poems have been submitted over the 17 years up to 2025. Submitted works will be published on the website as final candidates after a primary screening, and winning works will be determined by public voting. The grand prize winner will receive 100,000 yen in JCB gift cards and a high-quality ballpoint pen (worth 20,000 yen), with prizes also awarded to the top 10 entries. The application period ends on June 22nd. Anyone can apply via PC or smartphone.
