The Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Future Research Institute conducted a large-scale survey of 10,000 individuals regarding housing loans. The report reveals that while construction costs are driving up property prices nationwide, borrowing strategies differ significantly by region. In the Tokyo metropolitan area, 'pair loans' (joint borrowing) account for 25.6%, whereas ultra-long-term loans exceeding 35 years are expanding in other regions. Despite rising loan amounts, the study indicates that most households maintain a balanced loan-to-income ratio of approximately seven times their annual salary, reflecting regional financial adaptations.
