Soliton Systems and ARAV Collaborate on Remote Control of Construction Machinery

Soliton Systems Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ri Kamata; hereinafter "Soliton") and ARAV Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Itsuki Shirahisa Reyes; hereinafter "ARAV"), which develops and provides remote control and autonomous driving solutions for construction machinery, will promote collaboration aimed at popularizing ultra-remote control solutions in construction sites.

Through this collaboration, we will strengthen the integration between Soliton's video transmission system "Smart-telecaster™ Zao" (hereinafter "Zao") and ARAV's remote control device series for construction machinery, "Model V/E". This will enable us to propose and provide an "ultra-remote control environment" based on stable, low-latency video transmission, even in sites with unstable communication environments, to a wide range of customers.

Background of Collaboration

The construction industry is experiencing a rapidly growing need for remote control of construction machinery in hazardous areas, mountainous regions, and remote locations, driven by the aging of skilled operators and a decline in young entrants. However, mobile communication networks are often unstable in such environments, making it a significant challenge for practical implementation to ensure "low-latency and stable video transmission," which is a prerequisite for remote operation.

Overview of Collaboration

Soliton has been developing and selling its "Zao" series, which transmits video by multi-linking multiple carrier lines, for many years, and has a wealth of implementation experience in remote control and operation of construction machinery, remote construction, and autonomous driving of vehicles. On the other hand, ARAV has delivered and operated its "Model V/E" series of remote control devices at multiple construction sites using a retrofit approach that enables remote control by adding it to existing construction machinery.

Products equipped with both Soliton's "Zao" series and ARAV's "Model V/E" series on the same construction machine have already been released for sale and shipment in several remote operation projects, and the adoption of this combination is expanding depending on the site's communication environment and maintenance system. Specific combination examples are shown in Figures 1 and 2.

Based on these achievements, we will further evolve the collaboration between the two companies and contribute to labor saving, safety improvement, and productivity enhancement in the construction industry.
