Approximately 1 year after launch, the popular work-life balance support service for caregiving, "Wellbio Biz," which has already reached over 150,000 employees, now has a Light version! (Target employee count excluding SOMPO Group employees: 120,000)

SOMPO Wellbeing Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Yasuhiro Oba; hereinafter "SOMPO Wellbeing") is pleased to announce the development of "Wellbio Biz-Light," a work-life balance support service for small and medium-sized enterprises, which will be available starting July 1, 2026. Through this service, we aim to support the resolution of the social issue of "balancing work and caregiving" and contribute to the sustainable growth of companies.

1. The Serious Issue of "Caregiving Leave" Facing Japanese Society

"A valuable employee suddenly announces their resignation due to caregiving responsibilities." This statement is becoming a reality for companies everywhere. With Japan's declining birthrate and aging population, balancing work and caregiving is an unavoidable social issue that significantly impacts a company's sustainable growth.

It is estimated that the economic loss due to resignations and decreased productivity caused by the difficulty of balancing work and caregiving will reach approximately 9 trillion yen by 2030, posing a significant management challenge for businesses.

The government is also promoting support for work-life balance in companies through measures such as the "Guidelines for Business Owners on Supporting the Balance Between Work and Caregiving" and the "Revised Child Care and Family Care Leave Act," which came into effect in April 2025.

2. Leveraging Expertise Gained from Large Corporations for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises - The Birth of "Wellbio Biz-Light"

In response to the escalating challenges of caregiving, the SOMPO Group launched "Wellbio Biz" in July 2025, a service developed for large corporations to support the balance between work and caregiving. This service, which offers one-stop solutions from highly specialized information provision to individual consultations, has received a tremendous response from adopting companies.

Following the success of "Wellbio Biz" and the growing societal interest in "balancing work and caregiving," SOMPO Wellbeing began developing a service for small and medium-sized enterprises to extend this support to a wider range of companies.

Now, leveraging the expertise cultivated with the large corporate service "Wellbio Biz," we will launch "Wellbio Biz-Light" for small and medium-sized enterprises on July 1, 2026.

3. Overview of "Wellbio Biz-Light"

"Wellbio Biz-Light" is a service that packages the "six content modules" provided in the large corporate service "Wellbio Biz" into a format that can be universally utilized. It covers everything from comprehensive information provision to individual consultations for concerns, supporting companies' initiatives to balance work and caregiving at an accessible price point.

Provides content summarizing basic knowledge about caregiving and support systems.

(2) Needs Assessment Survey:

Conducts surveys to understand employees' caregiving situations and needs. This visualizes employees' caregiving circumstances, aiding in risk assessment and future policy planning.

(3) Seminars:

Online seminars on supporting the balance between work and caregiving are held.

(4) Video Content:

Offers short educational videos on caregiving.

(5) Online Community:

Provides an online community as a supportive space where participants can share their caregiving concerns and information.

(6) Consultation Service:

Offers online individual consultations with Wellbio Life Concierges.

The Wellbio Life Concierges are composed of members with professional qualifications such as former care facility directors, care managers, nurses, social workers, certified care workers, and financial planners, who can meticulously address the diverse caregiving concerns of employees.

4. SOMPO Wellbeing's Vision for a "Positive Aging" Society

Through the provision of "Wellbio Biz" and "Wellbio Biz-Light," SOMPO Wellbeing comprehensively supports companies' efforts to balance work and caregiving, regardless of their size.
