So-net Hikari Launches PlayStation®5 Option Service

So-net Hikari, an internet connectivity service provided by Sony Network Communications Inc., has started accepting applications from July 15 for its new optional service, 'PlayStation®5 Digital Edition Japanese Version for So-net'. For users of 'So-net Hikari 10Giga', the PS5® (hereinafter 'PS5®') can be used at an effective monthly rate of ¥980 for three years thanks to a bundled line subscription discount.

Overview

This option allows users to easily enjoy the PS5®, provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc., through a rental plan. Starting July 15, 2026, simultaneous line and device applications are available for select 1Giga and 10Giga plans under 'So-net Hikari', as well as 'So-net Hikari (au Hikari)'. Device shipments and standalone option applications will begin sequentially from September 2026. For 'So-net Hikari 10Giga' subscribers, the bundled subscription benefit reduces the effective monthly cost to ¥980 for three years.

To commemorate the launch, So-net is running a 'Follow & Retweet Campaign' on its official X account (@Sonet_fukuonsei) from July 15 to July 31, 2026, offering Sony products such as wireless earphones and soundbars to five lucky winners.

Moving forward, So-net will continue to deliver rich experiences in gaming, music, and anime, staying true to its slogan: 'So-net: The Network That Delivers Sony Group's Emotions'.

Usage Model

Notes

At the end of the contract period, users may choose to continue the rental, purchase the device, or return it and terminate the contract. As this is a rental service, mid-contract cancellation is generally not permitted. Early termination requires full payment of the remaining balance. If purchasing the device upon termination, an additional terminal purchase fee applies.

Eligibility: Customers who newly apply for both 'So-net Hikari 10Giga' and the 'PlayStation®5 Digital Edition Japanese Version for So-net' option via the dedicated benefit page on the official website, and complete activation (service start) by the last day of the sixth month following the line application.

Benefit Details: A monthly discount of ¥520 on the optical line's base monthly fee for three years, reducing the effective monthly cost of the PS5® option to ¥980.
